Being Molded Step by Step

Justin put in his two weeks notice at work this past Monday!
If you were to tell me a year ago that we would be here today, I’m not sure I would have believed it. Now after 16 & ½  years at the same job, God is closing that chapter. Looking back we are so grateful for Justin’s time there! Not only did God provide for us financially though his pre-field job, but Justin also learned countless trade skills that will be invaluable in Africa.

Looking back it’s amazing to see how each trial we have faced over the last 12 years, brought us one step closer to this next chapter ahead. God has been molding both of us and will continue to do so in the years ahead. I love the picture God gives us over and over in Scripture, that He is the Potter and we are the clay. We often forget this fact when we find ourselves fully immersed in a struggle. I would encourage you to take a step back when you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed and meditate on this truth found in Isaiah 64:8:

“But now, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.” (ESV)

Likewise Romans 8:28:

“And we know that God causes all things
to work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose.” (NASB)

I would encourage you, just as I often remind myself, to be flexible and moldable in the Father’s hand. He is in control, and when we stop trying to do things on our own, we realize that we are nothing more than a lifeless blob without Him.
