Winter happenings

Here is an update of what we’ve been up to over the last several months:

November
In mid-November we traveled to the US for a 2 month home assignment. We didn’t tell our parents that we were coming, so they got the shock of their lives! They were so excited to have us home for Thanksgiving!

December
The kids enjoyed decorating for Christmas at their grandparents’ homes. Unfortunately sickness kept us inside for about 2 weeks in the beginning of December. Later, we took a quick trip to Florida the week before Christmas to visit my brother and have some family vacation time. The Florida weather was much closer to what we are used to in Africa. It was nice to finally meet my brother’s fiancé since they will be getting married soon and we won’t be able to make it to the wedding. We really treasured the time spent with family and friends this Christmas!

January
It finally snowed in Virginia at the beginning of January and the kids had a blast playing in it! We were set to return to the mission field on January 17th but had to delay until the 23rd because one of our COVID tests got lost in processing. When we did return we brought Justin’s Mom back with us for her first ever visit to Africa!

February
She stayed with us for 3 weeks and we were able to show her firsthand what it’s like to live and serve in West Africa. It was great for her to finally meet our Tree of Life team in person! We also showed her the sights around town and the training center construction site.

March
That brings us to the current month. Justin’s traveling for ministry is back in full swing.  Likewise the TOL training center building project is moving right along.  The kids and I have gotten back into the groove of homeschooling too.
