Prayer Cards and Preparing to Launch

Prayer Cards hot off the press!

“Africa?… Why in the world would you want to MOVE to Africa?!”

I’ve been met with this question quite often lately as I excitedly share with my coworkers how God is leading our family to serve as missionaries.

My short answer has been; “To tell people about Jesus”.

Since becoming a Christian in 2004 I have had a burden for the lost and unreached. I never specifically asked to go to Africa; that was God’s idea.

When my wife Rachel and I were married in 2007, we both surrendered our lives to the Lord and desired to one day be missionaries in an unreached area. We thought God would send us right away, but once again the timing was God’s idea. During that time of waiting, God molded and prepared us as individuals and as a family. It wasn’t until the spring of last year that we began to see confirmation after confirmation that NOW is the Time!

We are so excited that God has invited us to join Him in training new believers in West Africa. As we have already shared HERE, the country we will be primarily working in is only 0.2% evangelical Christian, yet God is beginning to open doors for the gospel to move through a dynamic discipleship training.  This training teaches believers to be missionaries to their own people. Just in the last 14 months over 400 people have accepted Christ and are now being discipled. God is clearly at work, and as Jesus said in Luke 10:2;
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (ESV).
Evidently, someone has been praying for us, and we are so excited about this opportunity!

So now the next step… which was also not my idea! I always thought we would be commissioned to serve by a fully funded ministry, well guess what?…God’s plan is for us to raise our own support in order to make this vision a reality.

Right now we are in the preparation phase before launching into our support discovery. It is our hope that every individual whom God is calling to join with us, will feel a personal connection to this ministry, and know that they are making an eternal difference in the lives of many.  One way we hope to start a personal connection with you is through our prayer card. If you have had the pleasure of meeting a foreign missionary before, you know they usually have a family prayer card. Well, we are so excited to now have one too! These prayer cards are a good reminder for you to pray for West Africa and for us, and we hope to get one in your hands soon.
Just for kicks, here are some outtakes from our prayer card photo shoot:
