A New Bucket List

I bumped into a friend the other day who said “Oh you’re still here, I thought you moved to Africa already”…I had to chuckle… “Nope not yet, we are still shooting for mid to late January, God willing” I replied. It is an interesting stage of life I must admit. Yes, we are moving to Africa. No, we don’t know exactly when. Yes, we must raise 100% of our support. No, we haven’t reached our goal yet.

I shared with someone a while back that this stage of life feels much like being uprooted and held in midair, not being allowed to set down roots again-yet. Of course this is by our own choice, in obedience to what God is asking us to do, and we do it joyfully. I can’t stress that enough, it has been awesome and faith building! And our church family has gone above and beyond to provide a place for us to stay during this time! Nevertheless there is still a feeling of limbo. Many friends and family have asked about how our 3 kids are handling this time of limbo. Honestly they are doing great! Don’t get me wrong, they have questions almost daily about either our time here in Virginia, or the future there in Africa.  But it’s amazing how trusting they are in the fact that as long as we are together we are “home”. Something that has truly helped them navigate this time of transition is their new Missionary Kid Bucket List. They have come up with several things that they want to do before we move to Africa.  We were able to check off a few of these bucket list items over the past few months, and it has brought them so much joy and happy memories to take with them when we go.

Please continue to pray for our whole family as we continue our journey from Virginia to Africa.  We are trusting God to provide His supply in His timing. We know that may be by our goal date, or possibly months later. Whenever it does happen we will give all the glory to God.

If you have a suggestion for a bucket list item feel free to post a comment below.

Praying for God’s guiding and protection as you enter this work He has prepared for you and your family. God will provide as He never leaves us nor forsake us.

I love you all so much and commit my support in prayer.
