Autumn in Virginia

Virginia has finally gotten the memo that summer is over.

This past week the weather really cooled off here in the Shenandoah Valley, and the leaves have started falling.  I’m definitely going to miss the beautiful colors of the valley in the fall. Next year at this time we will be in West Africa, and there won’t be 4 seasons like in the US. Instead we will experience just 2; the dry season and the rainy season. So we may not have the beautiful colored leaves, monarch butterflies, pumpkin spice or apple cider…but that’s okay. We will just have to keep you posted about what life is like without autumn and winter. One positive that I am looking forward to is that we should have about 12 hours of daylight each day, so no winter blues! I found these cool graphics at weatherspark.com, which allows you to view yearly weather data models for any city worldwide. The top graphic shows our area of Virginia, and the bottom shows our future home.

Yes, it is going to be hot. No sweaters, scarves or boots for us next October. So we are determined to enjoy Autumn this year and try to make lots of memories with our kids and extended family.

Support Discovery

Support discovery has been going great and our January departure goal is looking more and more real. It has been amazing to see God at work in the details! There’s no way we could do this alone! God continues to remind us that He is bigger than our timeline, our budget, and our abilities. To Him be the glory because He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20). Each month we have been overwhelmed by the provision of the Lord. We are so grateful for the love and support that has been shown to us by our home church, as well as many other brothers and sisters in Christ from other church families.

We still have a ways to go to reach 100% of our monthly budget goal and we trust that God will provide. If God is moving you to join our support team, would you prayerfully consider a gift of $25, $50, or even $100 a month? YOU can be a part of discipling new believers, training pastors, and aiding the national church in West Africa. Donate in 5 minutes or less via the link below (select Hoy, Justin & Rachel Missionary Support). One time gifts are needed as well and… no gift is too small. Join our Support Team.
