Goodbye October, hello November!
I gotta be honest, I’m so glad October is over!
We just survived the worst month for heat and humidity here in our corner of Africa. October would normally remind me of fall in Virginia; leaves changing, crisp morning air, hot apple cider, football and comfy sweats.
However this year instead of wearing sweats, we were covered in sweat!
Haha TMI… but seriously, it’s true. Instead of 65°, we had a heat index between 105°-115° for weeks. And let me tell you, the strain of it took us by surprise. Thankfully God sustained us, and continues to teach us through it all.

Something I had to learn was the value of pacing yourself and resting more often during the heat of the day. It’s something so foreign to the “rat race” American mindset, yet it can be so life giving to just sit down and rest for a while.
Take a break. I give you permission. When you are physically, emotionally, or spiritually drained, you need rest.
Our puppy has also reminded me of this as well.
Puppy?…
Yes! We are the proud new owners of a 3 month old German Shepherd/Malinois puppy. We pray he will be a great companion and watch dog for our family. Our kids named him Jedi; after the Star Wars Jedi Knights, because according to our oldest, “He needs a fierce name”. The poor little guy had trouble getting used to the heat and humidity here too since we don’t have air conditioning. He has been laying around for large portions of the day, reminding me that even if there’s a lot to get done, sometimes we just need to survive the day.
