Finding Fun

We are now in the thick of rainy season.
Most days the rain can be a downer, but yesterday when the sun finally came out, we made a memory.
It all started when I went to take our dog for a walk with 2 of our kids. It had been raining for the majority of the day, and since the ground was already waterlogged, our road had a HUGE mud puddle standing between us and our walk. So we did what most people would do in that situation, and tiptoed across the cinderblocks that someone had so kindly placed there as stepping stones.
Then…as we walked back across the blocks, our youngest missed a block and stepped right in the water. We all started to giggle, and seeing no reproof from me, he began to jump in the water… soon his gentle splashes gave way to a slip and tumble head first into the puddle! He was soaked! What could we do but laugh all the more.

By then our oldest daughter and a neighbor friend had heard the commotion and wanted in on the action. So I deposited our dog inside with Justin, grabbed my camera, and let them jump to their hearts’ content. They had a blast!

I’ll never forget after coming inside so full of joy, and in desperate need of a shower, my son looked up at me and said “Mom it was so much fun! You should have jumped in the puddle too!”

He was right. With all the stresses of life today in the midst of a pandemic, finding the fun in daily life can be so uplifting.
So go find some fun today!
