Whenever a fellow believer tells me “On est ensemble” it makes my heart so happy. This phrase simply means “we are together”. The sense of the phrase is: I’ve got your back, we are a family in Christ, we are a team!

The discipleship ministry that we are involved in centers around training and equipping the national church to reach their people for Christ. Often when we are thanking one of our teammates for their help with the ministry they reply with: “On est ensemble”… as if to say: “no thanks necessary, we are a family, this is what families do.”

Wow, isn’t that beautiful! Isn’t that a picture of the early church! We may be small in number but we are together! We will be faithful to go and share the gospel and if I get discouraged I know you’ve got my back and vice versa. We can make a difference together.

I am so thankful for the brotherly love that we have been able to experience here. It’s so humbling to be foreigners-who stick out like a sore thumb, who don’t always understand social norms or communicate with 100% clarity-yet be welcomed with open arms by our brothers and sisters in Christ.

I was telling Justin the other day how refreshing it is to be told this. Likewise how fun it is to say back when we are able to do a favor for someone else. Christians in America just don’t talk like that. Yet this is my prayer for Christ’s church worldwide. In Christ we are together!
